While we all work in our various areas, deconstruction continues. We have begun to accept that the bang of the hammer will be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future. Our son, Tom, back from Michigan State for the summer, has been doing most of the heavy work. Here he is with one of the front windows he has been taking apart.
With everything he takes apart, he carries the material to the newer part of the building, where materials are being stored for future use.
This process definitely takes longer than the traditional method of putting everything into a dumpster. But it keeps stuff out of the waste stream and I’m assuming will probably save a bit of money!
One of the things that has been exciting has been to see what remains of the original 1920 construction. We found entire windows that had been bricked over. We’re going to reuse the windows as interior windows.
